500 people with focal epilepsy from around the world can change the lives of millions by participating in the Human Epilepsy Project (HEP). Could you be one of them?

What is HEP?

A study to determine biomarkers of treatment response to help predict the likelihood of developing drug-resistant epilepsy in people newly diagnosed with focal epilepsy.

How can I participate?

Participants complete seizure diaries, other online surveys, and in-person visits to collect biosamples, brain activity recordings, and images over a 3-to-5 year period. Using this information, this project will help to discover biological markers that will predict how people with focal seizures respond to treatments.

You can help us advance the science for people with focal epilepsy if these statements are true for you:

  • You are age 12 or older.
  • You’ve started treatment for focal epilepsy in the last four months.
  • You’ve had at least two confirmed seizures, at least 24 hours apart, in the last year; or
  • You’ve had one seizure with an abnormal EEG or MRI, in the last year.
