Join us for an educational webinar, “An Overview of Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery.” The treatment of epilepsy in children may include medications, prescribed and medically supervised dietary therapy, vagus nerve stimulation, and for some children brain surgery. The best treatment option for each child is different. For some children with medication resistant epilepsy, their journey will include evaluation for brain surgery to see if surgery can improve their chances of becoming seizure free and lower risks related to seizures. Epilepsy teams of specialists that include pediatric epilepsy doctors and nurses, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists and neuropsychologists assist in the evaluation and treatment of children with medication resistant epilepsy. If your child continues to have seizures despite treatment with antiseizure medication, ask your doctor about referral to an epilepsy center to learn more about available treatment options.
