Christianne (Christi) N. Heck MD, MMM, is the medical director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. She is professor of clinical neurology and co-director of the USC Neurorestoration Center. She is board certified in neurology and epilepsy.

She is a past chair of the Epilepsy Foundation Professional Advisory Board and the Epilepsy Leadership Council (formerly Vision 20/20). She also has served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). From 2011 to 2012, she served on the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on the Public Health Dimensions of the Epilepsies contributing to Epilepsy Across the Spectrum: Promoting Health and Understanding, published by the Institute of Medicine in 2012.

She has worked on the Board of Directors of the California Neurologic Society, where she actively participated in opinions regarding patient care and access to care within the state of California. She volunteers regularly for Hollywood Health and Society of the USC Annenberg School of Communications Norman Lear Center, which works to promote and evaluate public health topics in film and television.

Her research focuses on innovative approaches to treating epilepsy, including responsive neurostimulation and paradigms for optimizing neuromodulatory therapies, vagus nerve stimulation, and gamma knife radiosurgery. Her expertise also includes services to minority populations, as well as furthering understanding of status epilepticus, neuronal injury, memory dysfunction, and the psychosocial impact of epilepsy. She is keenly interested in quality and access to care for people living with epilepsy and families across the nation.
