Washington, DC, November 22, 2011 — You can hear it now: The thumping bass, the catchy guitars, the electrifying keyboard, the pulsing drums. You feel your lips moving as the familiar lyrics roll off your tongue and you’re thinking, “I haven’t had this much fun since—,“ but you can’t quite remember. And then suddenly, out of nowhere, your feet tap, your knees bend, your hips wiggle, your head bobs and suddenly— You are dancing! You are having a blast! You are rocking out to the "World's Greatest Party Band", and you can’t help yourself (but why would you want to?)! You’re at the Epilepsy Therapy Project’s Acceleration: LIVE! concert listening to the high-energy, “genre-defying,” post-punk-turned-pop heroes, The B-52’s, and you’re loving every minute of it. Since 2002, the Epilepsy Therapy Project has been celebrated as an extraordinary advocate for the fifty million people living with Epilepsy worldwide. Co-founded by Warren Lammert, the parent of a daughter with Epilepsy, and her doctor, Orrin Devinsky, Professor of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry and Director, of the New York University’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. ETP’s mission is to accelerate new therapies for people with epilepsy and seizures. In an effort to raise epilepsy awareness and support for their cause, the Epilepsy Therapy Project has launched Acceleration: LIVE!, a new concert series that directly benefits the organization. With the help of artists like The B-52s and Arturo Sandoval, the concerts have been a great way to connect music lovers with ETP’s cause. On their website, The B-52’s write “…We are playing a benefit for the Epilepsy Therapy Project…ETP is a non-profit organization that works to overcoming funding gaps and roadblocks that can slow the progress of new therapies for people with epilepsy and seizures…Please come out and dance with us and lend your support to this very worthy organization!” The B-52s, who are best known for their hit songs “Love Shack,” “Rock Lobster,” and “Roam,” will be a great draw. With a history of sold-out shows and a reputation for “outrageous performance” style, their unique energy is sure to rock the House of Blues in Boston when they take the stage on December 1st. Help ETP rock for a great cause! Get your tickets now! |
