First seizure?

Not exactly sure where to start. I'm not sure that I have epilepsy but tonight I had to go to the hospital because I ether blacked out and hit my head or had a seizure. Luckly a friend was with me and was able to get me help.

Anyway, the reason why I think that I've got seizures is because every week or so I'll get these twitches that don't last more than 10 seconds and it's really involving my arms, they just twitch. I do know what is going on but I have no control over it. This is the first one that I've ever gotten this bad before. I'm going in for an EEG soon but that can take weeks to get the results and I'm impaitent like most

Any help is greatly appreciated. If someone knows a better place for me to ask then please point me in that direction.

People with epilepsy sometimes have these twitches that they don't think anything about until they have a seizure.  The twitches themselves are a type of mini seizure.  You should explore this site for symptoms and see if it sounds like something you are experiencing.  Typical triggers for seizures can be being over tired, drinking alcohol or taking drugs (street drugs or prescription meds), stress/worry, or being very sick.  Just remember as you read on this site that everyone's experience is different.  Just because someone has one symptom doesn't mean you will have it too.  Make sure you have a family member or a friend to talk to!  Good Luck!

I don't know where you live, but below is a compilation by forum members of http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/efforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=3&threadid=58925  who have had positive experiences with docs over the years.

This list is based on personal  recommendations and, of course, is purely subjective.  But I thought it might be a helpful resource. It is organized alphabetically, by state.  Here's the link: http://epilepsytalk.com/2009/10/13/comprehensive-list-of-good-neurologists%e2%80%a6epileptologists%e2%80%a6neurosurgeons%e2%80%a6and-pediatric-doctors/

Here, too is a link to the best neurological hospitals in the US, according to the US World & News Report's annual critique. http://epilepsytalk.com/2010/02/23/best-neurology-neurosurgery-hospitals-in-the-u-s/

Some more advice: Get plenty of sleep. If you're in a stressful situation, take some time out.  Eat regularly.  Keep a detailed diary of how you feel physically every day, any symptoms you may have and any drugs or vitamins you take.  (This will be very helpful to the doctor, so that he can piece together your puzzle.)  Make a list of questions for the doctor.  And relax!  Best of luck...

Could seizures be enduced by lack of sleep or eating? Thats my main question because I've been getting less and less sleep for the past couple of months and i've noticed that its when most of my seuzures have happened.

lack of sleep can play a huge role in seizure activity.  Probably 80% of my seizures happen when I am tired, most are as I fall asleep or within 1 hour of waking up after a short night of sleep.  Try to establish a normal pattern of sleep  and even scheduling meals close to the same time helps me quite a bit.
