Take control of your epilepsy and seizures. Seizure management has never been easier.
TAKE CONTROL TODAYHello friends my name is Tim, 11/20/2009
My wife(Stephanie) has an epileptic disorder and she takes 1(250mg) tablet of depakote twice a day, as well as 800micos of folic acid.
We were in the process of switching to lamictal. She had gotten to 100mg of lamictal twice a day and OOPS WE got pregnant. Know she is 7 weeks and our new epiliptologist is going to do one the following options.
Stop the lamictal, He says due to the fact she only takes 500mg a day, she could be a very lower risk of baby problems. And due to the amount of folic acid taken since Jan. 09'. She may be a very at low risk of any baby problems.
And the other is to go ahead with the switch to lamictal.
I guess my worry is risking the possible seizures with switching meds while pregnant V/S depakote at a low dose being less risky of the baby problems.
We have roughly have one week to decide on what is best.
Anything that helps give my wife the one thing she wants most is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for everyone support.
