Take control of your epilepsy and seizures. Seizure management has never been easier.
TAKE CONTROL TODAYHi my name is Marsha,
Now this is going to sound extremely strange, but maybe someone can help me out and relate to this. I had my first seizure at 9 months old up until i was 12. I am now 22 and have in the past year started having seizures again. I have had 4 total this year so far. Now I have only ever had these seizures in my sleep. I usually wake up for a quick couple minutes after them but then fall back asleep for a few more hours until its time to get up. The problem is while i am awake shortly after i dont remember having a seizure nor do I remember anything that happened once I am actually awake for the day. My husband does tell me that i do talk with him for that couple minutes im awake i just cant remember it at all. I have gone and had many eeg's and mri's and yet never has it ever shown that I had a seizure, not even once. I usually for days after have horrible pain in my legs anytime the are slightly moved at all. I also wake up with sores on the sides of my tongue from biting down on it. I do get a migraine that whole day from the seizure in the morning. Now my family has a history of migraines and i do regularly get migraines. For the most partly i usually get them three times a week. Can anyone tell me if they are having seizures in their sleep and yet still nothing ever shows up on their tests? If anyone can help at all with any information that would be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks so much.. have a great day!!! marsha <3

I'm exactly like that, I know it sucks but we have to live with it. =[ I have them during the night time too, i also have insomnia, making it hard to function. The night time seizures are nothing, don't worry about them, as long as you're not having them during the day then your good to go, and if you feel insecure get a seizure alert dog, i did=]
thank you for your help... i appreciate this information you have told me and what you have on your page.. i am currently seeing a neurologist and we are figuring out what sort of seizures i am having. thank you again..
best of luck to you!!!
It sounds to me sort of like my brothers complex partial szrs. He has them in his sleep sometimes. He is confused after them, and may be functioning, talking, singing, walking ect. afterwards for up to ten mins, but forget that when he TRULY comes out of confusion state. All his zrs make him have bad headaches, and he had to get perscription headache pills, although they don't really work. He does get sore after having szrs, but not all the time, it just depend on the way he was sitiuated.
Anyway, I would say to continue doing more test. They have to find the cause soon.

thank you for your response to my post. I truly appreciate all the help and guidance i can get since i just had another seizure sunday morning. I am looking into seeing professionals and continuing my research. Best of luck to your brother.

I too have had episodes while asleep and I wake for about a few min and fall asleep again.
I sleep about 4 hours at a time, but have no ill effects afterward. No migraines.
My mate says I grip her arm,my body become rigid and that I babble. ??.
Of course I don't recall any of this.
Meds (valproic acid 500 & lamictal 400 mg ) make my short-term mrmory suffer.
Meds also create slight facial rash but not reddish; just patchy dry skin forehrad and cheeks. I get excess dandruff despite any shampoo.
Seacrest brand lotion helps well.
It's a small price to pay for being episode free.
thanks for you response and help.. sorry it took me so long to get back to you i havent been on since the holiday started getting closer.. i will definitely look into those medications and talk to the neurologist about them...
again thanks so much for your input... best of luck to you!!!

You are certainly not alone. I had grand mal febral seizures from infancy until just before I started kindergarten. It appeared I'd grown out of them. I was fine until I turned 18 and started having auras and so on, and was diagnosed with complex partial seizures. Nothing showed up on my tests either, but all my symptoms definitely proved I had epilepsy; as did my short term memory issues. I was told, that often people who have a seizure disorder as a child (even if it goes away) are more likely to develop epilepsy as an adult. This site is great for all people like us, it shows us that we're not alone and we aren't losing our minds or anything. As for your migraines, you should see a doctor about those. That could just be a separate issue and maybe your seizures just trigger them. There may be something you could take to control that problem separately. I get premigraine auras, but have yet to have an actual headache. I've actually lost my site for around 15-20 minutes. My doctor gave me Treximet to keep on hand just in case.
thank you so much for replying to me and letting me know about you. I feel much better now that i know there is someone else out there who also doesny have there seizures show up. I really appreciate you sharing that with me... have a great day!!
thanks again marsha
p.s. just so you know i have seen a doctor about my migraines..many different ones in fact.. i have yet to find a pill that can take them away.. but im still looking... thanks again :]
You are definitley not the only one, I think we in a sense, feel like we are the only ones on the face of the planet going through the problems that we are going through such as driving, taking care of our kids, being unable to work etc.
I have had epilepsy ever since I was 14, I am now 31. They have been controlled up until about 2 years ago and then they came back again. Now I have a 3 year old son with autism, and I am struggling to hold to a job that requires me to drive. It really suck having to hitch rides like you have gotten a DUI or something. I often feel trapped in my situation, but I just try and keep moving forward.
i am so sorry dear i had seizures as a young teen but did not have any for 19 years no meds. nothing than they just strated back up about a year and six mons. ago the drs. are stomped it is hard can not work getting hard to drive or even to daily things so i fully understand but you will get thew this, you have peopleto help and to listen good luck and keep smiling makes people wonder what you are up to. smiles
thank you for responding to my post.. I really do appreciate it greatly.. it helps me more then you know..I hope that things get better for you.
thank you again have a good day!!
thanks again marsha :]
