Take control of your epilepsy and seizures. Seizure management has never been easier.
TAKE CONTROL TODAYI admit, my son sleeps in his toddler bed in our master bedroom. I can't sleep not knowing what he's doing while he's sleeping. His seizures are so subtle I don't pick them up on a baby monitor.
What have other people figured out?

Not ashamed to admit that our son sleeps with us in our bed. My wife and I agree that when he is ready to move into his own bed then that will be the time. No need to add stress to him at bedtime. We have talked about monitors, etc. but not confident enough that we would here him. He has tonic clonics and always vomits during them so we want to be there for him ASAP. My wife and I just take full advantage of times when we are alone. ;)

My daughter started having seizures when she was two. My husband and I had her sleeping with us when she came home from the hospital after her first seizure. She slept in our bed until she was three. Then we moved her bed into are room where she stayed until she was almost six. She is now nine and still has seizures. She has a monitor in her room but her seizures are so silent I don't rely on it to much. When she has a seizure she tends to throw up while unconcious with no sound. When she is sick or not feeling well she is right back in our bed room until she is better. If I am sick she is in my room. Some people don't agree with this. But you have to do as a parent that you feel is right for you and your child. My daughter does everything other children do. She climbs trees, goes swimming, rides a bike, but sometimes when it comes to bed time she sleeps in my room more than her friends do with their parents. I have learned this has made her more confidant that at bedtime we are there for her when she needs us. There have been times that after she has been in her room for several weeks and I get up several times a night because I hear her tossing and turning or talking in her sleep that I have her sleep with me for a night because I need a night to sleep. She has been on a waiting list for six years for a seizure alert dog. January we go and get her dog. I might get to learn how to sleep at night. Hang in there and you will find whats right for you and your family.
