Take control of your epilepsy and seizures. Seizure management has never been easier.
TAKE CONTROL TODAYHi all, I am almost 28wks pregnant and have been told I need to book a c-section for my baby due to my seizures becoming unstable during the pregnancy. I have tonic clonics in custers and have been in status several times.
Anyone else been through this? Please could you share your stories as I am completely unprepared and do not know anyone that has had a c-section yet alone anyone that had it due to seizures.
Many thanks in advance xx

I am a birth doula who also takes meds for epilepsy. I think you will be fine if they decide that a c-section is safest. How come your seizures have not been controlled? This is the first thing that needs to be looked at. Also, are you helping the situation by keeping track of your seizures and when and possibly why they are happening. This is very important to most neurologists. If your neuro is not adequately looking after you please find a second or third; you need to get a neuro who is wise. Just because you have seizures does not mean you have to have a c-section; but before you go searching for a dr. or midwife you had better first have a neuro who can get those seizures under control. Usually that means increasing levels of meds. That is not necessarily a huge risk for the babe as the blood volume increases 9x (for each month of pregnancy) your meds have to increase too, for your sake. I had four healthy babies and a coulple of seizures during some of my pregnancies (due to increased blood volume...). All in all it was very worth it. I don't think I would do it again but thank God I was young and naive!
