New - Video EEG should I have one?
Take control of your epilepsy and seizures. Seizure management has never been easier.
TAKE CONTROL TODAYHello everyone,
First off I am new to this site and I wanted to share a little about what has been going on. I have ARS and seizures since I was 12 years old. I am now 24 years old. I have been great for a few months and all of a sudden *BOOM8 they have hit me again. Seizures will not stop and now no aura like before. My girlfriend and I are concerned but she is more than I am for fear she will come home from work and find me "gone". She wants to find me a caregiver i guess you could call it and we have no idea where to start or how... Please help!!!!

Hi booeyface,
In addition to partial seizures, I have seizure clusters that often lead to repeated secondary tonic-
clonics. Often I get a warning aura, but about 3 years ago the warning was only about one second and
the tonic-clonics gave me a near lethal subdural hematoma.
I've only been taking Keppra with a warning of the clusters, and the Keppra is usually fast enough to
stop the tonic-clonics 3-out-of-4 times; taking Keppra regularly seems to blunt it's effectiveness as
a rapid action AED with the occasional max dose on the warning for me (cost of Keppra is also a problem
at the continual max dose).
I've thought about trying Diastat and/or Midazolam, but the dangers of narcotics, and the logistics of
use, are very discouraging for me. Then the ocassional absence of, or very short, warning probably
would still require a constant companion to avoid all repeating tonic-clonics.
I'm going to hope for good luck in taking my one-out-of-four secondary tonic-clonics for now.
(I'm on the floor, with my Keppra ready, at the slightest hint of trouble LOL.)
