Hi vdw,

Surgery on both sides of the brain, within the mirror areas, is usually reserved as a very last resort,
because it could easily have disasterous consequences of total loss of function dependent on that
area (with botched possible back-up from the opposite side). With improving technologies, this should
become less and less of a threat.
