Take control of your epilepsy and seizures. Seizure management has never been easier.
TAKE CONTROL TODAYOver the last two years I've started to experience a very acute sensation of deja vu on an increasingly more frequent basis. I get deja vu so bad that I'll feel like my nose is about to start gushing blood, and once in a while my stomach gets a little nauseous feeling, but I think that might just be from how weird this all feels. Sometimes I feel like I get vertigo really bad with it.
I have no idea what triggers it, but I'll be doing something and the next thing I know I can't tell what's real or what's not real anymore. I'll feel like I can finish people's sentences, and I'll feel like everything I've done before. A lot of times I feel like maybe I dreamed this, and now it's happening. For a long time I thought I was insane, that or psychic (haha - laugh now at how crazy I really am). Since some days it happens more than once a day at this point, I'll try anything to trick myself out of it. I'll do something deliberate that is out of context with my normal behavior to try to reset everything, but that just intensifies the feeling of deja vu.
I'm in a human physiology course, and looked up the physiology of deja vu. I discovered such thing as simple partial seizures, and from what I read of other people, a lot of people experience the same thing.
Never in my life would I have attributed the word seizure to it, I thought I had schizophrenia (I also visually hallucinate at times).
My mother has epilepsy, and is on carbotrol for it. She had a few grand mal seizures about 5 years ago (and even lost her license for a little bit). From what I read on this site, the odds of me having inherited epilepsy from her is about 5%. They have no idea what caused her to have epilepsy, but the odds seem weird that I would also have it. I sent her a link to a forum discussion on here of people who have SPS, and she said before the Carbotrol she had that, and never thought anything of it, but hasn't had it since she's been on the Carbotrol.
More about things, I have frequent headaches (often in the same place in my head) that have been there for years now. I just recently had a headache that lasted 5 weeks straight - although Advil did alleviate it to a dull roar at times - and that was brutal. I also have visual hallucinations, as I said. The entire world of my peripheral vision is constantly in motion, and sometimes I'll see a sort of 'halo' of light or whisp of light float on by through a wall. Every once in a while the world shifts in and out of focus like a camera lens, but that's really rare.
Mostly it's this persistent deja vu crises, that makes me feel like I can't tell the difference between reality and not anymore. I'm kind of worried that these are seizures, and I'm going to one day have a grand mal seizure.
Been thinking of calling a neurologist and got a referral, but I also wanted to sign up for the National Guard, and don't want to jeopardize that if I can help it. I also think it's weird that I'd be one of the 5% of the population.
Oh. I also have OCD, which I read has been linked to people with temporal lobe epilepsy (which also seems to tie heavily into deja vu).
Advice or anything would be extremely helpful. I'm a bit nervous/scared that this is a brain tumor, or even epilepsy or something.
