i dont wake up so I wear diapers to bed now 27m seizure from head trauma in prison someone help me i need to talk to someone!!!

i need some friends, to talk to , i just got out of prison and am learning to deal with this on the outside, im 27 i have no memory any more because of this head trauma. ive only been dealing with seizures ayear and a half ( my prison term minus the 90 days i currently have of freedom) ive kicked a copsince i got out( no memory, during seizure.......after my dad woke me up i started pounding on him, he understands but couldnt get me to stop so he ran next door and called the cops, then i guess i started twitching, my dad warned them, they thought i was faking, they put me in the back of the car( had to lay me down!!!) then i seized, and the door hit the cop in the groin, so i wake up in the hosp. and he tells me he thought i was faking until he got me a couple miles down the road and i did it again, so he to ok me to the hosp. my phenobarb levels were low as were sugar. but they still charged me........im scared cause im taking it to jury, my lawyer says their case is weak and ive got 18 months of records to back me up. and 3 days ago i had another one ( of course i put on the ever so embarrassing diapers casue i felt it coming) my parents also noticed me acting funny.......... im new to all this i need help, but anyway one of the cops from that day came to my house ( the groin kicking incident) as i was activley seizing ( kinda opened his eyes, i gues i was caliing for my mom, but it obviously  didnt come out as "mom" but you could still tell,  I shit my pants.......... i am embarassed then i had to sit in it for 3 hours in the er, im glad i put a diaper on.

Any way i need ALOT of advise and friendship, i take phenobarb, neurontin, klonopin and lithium.\ I s  Anyone else have to wear diapers, how do you =deal with it with your family, ( see i have lived my whole life being able to get up at night to pee and not wearing diapers,) i want to cry, my meds just suppress them right now, once i went nine months, i was told i was lucky usually its once a month, but it did improve.  When they were try8ingmysoling and keppra etc..... i had 20 in july!!!!! a,,........Illl shutup up now. THanks

Brad,

First of all, the Lithium might be lowering your seizure threshold.  I don't know why you are taking the Lithium but these types of drugs can cause problems for seizure patients.

Second, it's pretty obvious that the seizure medications that you're taking are not doing an effective job in helping to control the seizures (although I still want to point my finger at the Lithium!).   I'd discuss with your neuro what you've been going through and how the quality of life is affecting your life.  There are plenty of other medications that you can take for your seizures.

If the reasons why you're incontinent at night is because you're not waking up, it could very well be from the Phenobarbital and the Klonopin.  Both can be extremely sedating.  Contact your physician as soon as possible.  I think you need to be re-evaluated for some changes to make your life a little more enjoyable.

Hi, Thanks for sharing your experiences. To get more feedback for you, I moved this post to the Living with Epilepsy section of the forum. People who have seizures that land them in trouble with police ,may be able to get help from the Epilepsy Foundation here in the U.S. call the national office if there is not a local affiliate in your state.. 1-800-efa-1000. People can also get help from their Disability Law Services or similar state organizations. Lastly, it would be important to see an epilepsy specialist who can speak to the diagnosis and what happens when they occur, and also help look at other treatment options to improve seizure control.

 Hope this helps,

Wow!!  Seems like you have already been through a lot.  What had your seizures under control in prison?  Can they go back to that?  Also,it might be helpful to ask to do a 24hr eeg on you if you are having them that often and loosing your bowels.  They can also prescribe ativan and that usually stops them right away.  Epileptologists might be your best bet to help you get your seizures under control right away.  I would defintly contact a disability attorney as suggested above and last join us in chat.  We are always there.  Hang in there it will be up and down but that is just LIFE!!!
