Three years later...

Well, it's been 3 years since we started down the road of epilepsy with our son Darren.  This November 16th will not only mark my youngest daughters' birthday, it will also mark Darren's first grand mal seizure that we witnessed and his diagnosis....not only that.  I am due with baby # 6!  Darren is bursting at the seams over his new brother who is due any day now.  He told me that when "Hauk" is born he is going to hold him until he's 21.  :)  Darren is our first child and almost 11.  After he was born we had 4 beautiful little girls and now, after all these years, another little man is going to make his entrance.  It will be strange to have a boy baby after getting so used to the landscape of girls...but it'll also be fun.  Darren has seen the Neuro this fall and we were told that since he's had 2 breakthrough seizures recently, he would be moving to a group practice who specialize in neuro surgery and take in a wide range of specialties.  Darren remains healthy in every other way.  He's loving sports this year with basketball and baseball being the main 2 favorites.  The 4 oldest will all be playing indoor ball this winter and are really looking forward to it.  He is excelling in his music and homeschool as well.  After 3 years of this though, i am convinced that he usually has a couple days of intense emotion prior to a grand mal seizure.  He just had another MRI this past month to try to pin point the exact location of the focci for future reference if surgery becomes a need.  We are still praying for healing but recognize that God can and will use whatever we surrender to him... even our weaknesses for his higher purpose and glory.  Some days are harder than others, but there really is so much to be thankful for in amidst the frustration.  May God continue to lead us through this as we attempt to decipher what is the best course of action or innaction for our children.
