Deja Vous

I've been epileptic since the age of 16, Im now 29 and had a left temporal lobectomy operation done in November 2006. I use to have all different kinds of epileptic seizures but have now been seizure free for almost 10 months. One thing I have suffered from since the operation is Deja Vous - Mostly on a weekly basis. Most of the time I have feelings that ive lived life before and when I've been introduced to alot of people ive felt as though we've met before and I've been able to finish story's that they come out with for the first time. Has any other person come across this before?

Answer:

Deju vu and other unusual perceptions or experiences can occur as a simple partial seizure, also called auras by some people. Sometimes after surgery people are free of seizures that affect their awareness or consciousness but may be left with events that do not impair their awareness. It's important to tell the doctor about all kinds of events as it would affect whether or not medicines are needed. Sometimes medicines work differently after surgery and a change may help seizure control now where it didn't work before surgery.

Here is a link to simple partial seizures and temporal lobe epilepsy. I've also included a list of observations for seizures - see if this helps while you track seizures.

Hope these help and good luck!
