topamax is it successful just alone?

Does anyone take topamax alone?? for seizures?
Or with another med?

Hello all, I just switched to Topamax after being on Depakote for years. Depakote caused bad problems w/ my pancreous all the sudden, ended up in the hospital and it sucked! So far so good on the Topamax. I tried Keppra for a month and a half and was having seizures 3-5 times a week with horrible side effects. Not fun at all. But since being on the Topamax, no seizures! It's making me feel way spaced out, having alot of memory problems and word recall problems, but I can accept that over being in status! Having some pins and needles feelings but not that bad. Eating is another story though, food is the last thing that I want!
I take topamax alone, along with a multi vitamin and folic acid of course. I was at 100 mg a day and was seizure free for 6 mo's and up until this past week I had 3 seizures within 12 hours. My dr. increased my meds to 125/day for now. My next appt. is in 2 weeks. What are "normal" dosage's for topamax? I know my neurologist wanted to get me to a higher level but I was having side effects that made me want to stay at the 100 mg/day.

I am only on 75mg a day but am soon working up to 100mg a day.
so far good. Topamax seems to have gotten rid of my bad migranes that I was having too and my mood swings. I so far pleased with it.
I think taking it nice and easy with meds is the best way!

I just had a really good talk with my nurse about my meds today saying that topamax is very right for me. because Im suffering from the loss of my mom as well so it is helping me out with my seizures and headaches and depression. For me so far topamax is a winner! I will pray that it keeps up that way for me and for you too!
let me know what your doc does if he keeps you on it or what!

thank you for this information I have a new epileptologist I am going to go over this issue of me not being able to sleep at nite time. Im wide awake! I was asaulte and lost mom during katrina I have suffered several traumas. Topamax I feel makes me feel i have my head together more so that keppra even though keppra made me feel happier.
I have so many questions to ask my epileptologist/psychologist! I think he may the right thing for me!!

I'm just on Topamax 300mg per day and have been since december. Have memory probs like the rest of you but have started taking omega3 as this is supposed to help. Its reduced my partials from 9 per month to 3. Although am having a few sleeping issues too. See my neuro in a month so see what she says. Best wishes. Bex
i just take topamax alone,a pretty low dsg compared to most people and im doing just fine. Although this is my second time on it so my body is more use to. but i alwys only took one medication not 2 for my epilepsy.
