Someone on here had a good idea-- do a sleep-study on yourself. Film yourself sleeping to see nocturnal seizures, find out how many you're having, what kind, etc. My question is this: When a Hi8 tape is only 2 hours long, how are you supposed to get a whole night's sleep on video? If you only get the first couple hours, you're not likely to see anything unless you tend to have seizures early in the cycle, which I don't. Suggestions would be immensely appreciated!
We purchased the Emfit Movement Monitor for our 5 year old daughter after she had her 2nd seizure. Both of her seizures occured in her sleep. I know this monitor is expensive, but I just want everyone out there to know it is worth every penny!
I just wanted to put something out there for people who are wanting informaiton about Keppra. When my daughter's neuro recommended Keppra I went home and did all the searching I could about it. I felt like everything I found about the drug was negative, so negative in fact, I decided NOT to medicate my 5 year old. After a somewhat traumatic 3rd seizure, we decided to start Keppra. My daughter has been on the med for 2 weeks now and really doesn't seem to have any side effects. If you are hesitant about putting your child on meds, know you are not alone!
Hi All,
OK, I can't figure this out. Everyone keeps telling me to just "go with it" and "do what I want", but I want to understand. Something in me needs to understand this.
I left my ex in July 2008 after 8 yrs. I was always doing ok at work and everything. We stayed friends until towards the end of 2009, when he crossed some lines, but I won't go there much.
When I was pregnant, as most every woman with epilepsy has a legitimate reason to worry does, I feared the worst. As it turns out, my daughter is gorgeous - absolutely amazing. Sometimes I have a little voice of worry in my mind that she may have epilepsy later in life (I have JME); but it wouldn't be the worse thing ever.
We are really worried about our son and his seizures. We are new to all of this and would like all the help we can get. Our son is 16. Any help would be helpful. thank you. MOM
Can anyone tell me what are the criteria for differentiatiating a sz from a manic episode, I was diagnosed a bipolar for years and given ineffective meds but now my new psychiatrist says the spells which I thought was just shaking with "fear " were really SPs. I remember these shaking spells afterwards and dont lose consciousness during them but when they finish there are a few seconds when there are NO thoughts in my head and all my thoughts are very slow motion for the fisrt few minutes.when they occur again .
I'm 43, a regular cyclist and runner. Yesterday, I was taking a lunchtime ride. My buddy and I stopped by his daughter's school so he could deliver some medicine to her. He went inside, I stopped my bike. The next thing I remember is becoming alert inside the nurse's office at the school. Apparently EMS had been contacted and checked on me while I was unconscious (I have no memory of that). I gradually became aware of where I was and what date it was, etc.
I take lamictal 3pills in a.m.and 3 at p.m.and phenabarbital,1 in a.m and one and a half at p.m., I still have seizures. I am trying to find out if maybe the pheno is weakening my lamictal....I have at least one seizure every other day. My doctor said my level for lamictal is real low and I don't understand, cause I take it every day. I never miss one single dose. Can anyone help me to find out, I am tired of waking up on the floor.I have been lucky I haven't broke any bones.
