Clinical studies in which patients took either zonisamide or placebo in addition to their usual seizure medicines showed that zonisamide significantly reduced seizures.
Recent small studies have shown that zonisamide has potential benefits for a broad spectrum of other types of epilepsy, such as:
- Lennox-Gastaut syndrome
- infantile spasms (West syndrome)
- progressive myoclonic epilepsy (PME)
