Everyone considering the use of Felbatol should read the box warning in the package insert. Because of the risk of fatal aplastic anemia and hepatitis, use should be reserved for patients in whom the risk-benefit ratio is favorable.
People who are allergic to felbamate or to other medicines in the same family, called carbamates, should not take Felbatol. Neither should people who have had any liver disease, blood disorder, or autoimmune disease.
