Often doctors find that medicines are useful for purposes other than the ones approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is legal to prescribe medicines for these "off-label uses."

Phenytek has two common off-label uses:

  1. It may be helpful in treating a kind of face pain called trigeminal neuralgia. The seizure medicine carbamazepine (Tegretol or Carbatrol) is usually more effective, however.
  2. Doctors sometimes use Phenytek to treat patients with certain psychiatric disorders, such as the mania of bipolar disorder. Few studies have shown a definite benefit, however. Another reason for caution in this kind of use is that Phenytek interacts with many of the medicines generally used to treat psychiatric disorders.

I'm such a crybaby.  My kids were watching "My Girl" and I was dumb enough to sit down and watch part of it.  I have never wanted to see the movie because I knew someone died.  I can't handle kids dying.  I misscarried once and it was heartbreaking. ...

One of the things I hate about being bipolar is that you get in these rage moods.  If you are bipolar you know exactly what I'm talking about.  If you don't, RUN.  RUN faster than me.  My kids have been in hiding for a week now.  Hubby is a saint as...
