Often doctors find that medicines are useful for more than one purpose. Besides seizures, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Klonopin (clonazepam) for the treatment of panic disorder.

It is also legal to prescribe medicines for "off-label uses" even though the FDA has not formally approved such use. Klonopin is sometimes used in this way to treat movement disorders such as Tourette syndrome.
