About Epilepsy Foundation Greater Los Angeles
The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles shares the nationwide mission and focuses on leading the fight to END EPILEPSY -- our vision and call to action. Established in 1957, our fundraising and community efforts support care, advocacy and education, today, while investing in research and hope for tomorrow.
Specifically, we support the training/work of over 15 pediatric neurologists or epilepsy specialists at three major epilepsy center/clinics in our region -- UCLA, County-USC and Children's Hospital LA. Our affiliate continues to be the biggest affiliate sponsor of epilepsy research. We support two Dietary Therapy Programs at UCLA and at County-USC. Our staff team organizes and offers a Helpline, an annual Family Day and Adult Retreat, seminars most every month, and a monthly Studio E Open Art Therapy Group and a Family/Friend Therapy Group. We offer training in epilepsy and seizure first aid for school nurses, schools and the public. After educating legislators and successfully advocating for the passage of SB161 (Diatat Bill) in Sacramento, we are now focused on providing video training to support the implementation of that bill.
Our annual special events include “Care & Cure–A Benefit to End Epilepsy in Children” in Beverly Hills and a “Walk to End Epilepsy” at the Rose Bowl. We promote do-it-yourself events that build upon the interests and talents of individuals in our community who are inspired to use their passions to promote awareness and funds for the fight to END EPILEPSY. We promote the notion that everyone needs to Believe, Speak-Up, Inspire, Donate and Take Action if we are going to achieve the vision of END EPILEPSY.
