About Us

For more than 50 years, the Epilepsy Foundation has shone a light on epilepsy by promoting awareness and understanding, advocating for laws that matter to people with epilepsy, and funding epilepsy research.

The mission of the Epilepsy Foundation is to lead the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives. For more than five decades, the Epilepsy Foundation and our network of nearly 50 partners have helped to:

  • Connect people to treatment, support and resources;
  • Fund innovative research and the training of specialists; and
  • Educate the public about epilepsy and seizure first aid.

Our programs also shine a light on epilepsy by promoting awareness and advocating for laws that matter to people with epilepsy.

Charity Navigator awarded the Epilepsy Foundation four out of four stars. This top rating indicates the Epilepsy Foundation adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way.

“If we raise a whole generation of students that better understand seizures and epilepsy, perhaps the issues with stigma of epilepsy would go away. Having more people knowledgeable about seizure first aid would be great, but having the same people be compassionate and kind to those that are different than them would be progress.”
