How to Register to Participate

Registration on epilepsy.com opens the door to many features and puts you in touch with a community of more than 23,000 members. Your free registration keeps you informed of activity on the website, allows you to customize settings and take control of your health care.

Benefits of Registration
  • Writing in the Community Forum and your own Blog
  • Finding members with similar interests as you and starting Groups
  • Saving your favorite pages, multimedia, and search results for later use
  • Creating buddy lists to keep in touch with your friends
  • Starting your own My Story page to share with friends and family
  • Uploading your podcasts
  • Sharing your expertise in the epilepsy.com Wiki
  • Customizing your personal Seizure Diary to track seizures, organize your health care team, and set reminders for appointments and medicines
  • ... and more!

Sounds Great! How do I do it?
Registering is easy. First, click on the "Register for my.epilepsy.com" link in the gray bar, above, or simply jump to the Registration page. The following page presents you with a series of forms, almost all of which are optional. The most basic account information is visible on this first form: email address, desired username, password, security question, and and the security feature to prevent automated account creation.

After filling out these required fields, you can jump right in to the community by clicking "Submit and login." If you wish to further customize your account, click the orange "Continue to Account Preferences" button.

The Account Preferences section allows you to check boxes to manage the amount of email you receive from epilepsy.com. You can select to receive weekly email updates from the site and to sign up for features such as the monthly Spotlight Newsletter, filled with new features, articles, and news available on epilepsy.com. Further down on the page, you can customize settings such as a default signature for your blog and forum postings and control whether other users can leave messages for you on your My Story pages through a guestbook feature. When these forms have been completed, you again have the option to "Submit and Login" or "Continue to Community Profile."

The third and final step of registration is the Community Profile, where you can enter some information about yourself to share with other members, if desired. On this page you will see a series of fields to enter your age, gender, location, interests & hobbies, epilepsy treatments, alternative therapies, surgeries, etc. Under each question, you'll see a checkbox asking if you wish to make the details public, that is, to share your responses with the larger epilepsy.com community. Additionally at the end of the form you will see a master checkbox asking if you wish to make your entire profile public or not. If you select to make your profile public, the individual questions you opted to share will be available in the Find People Like Me database. Here, you (or other members) can search across a broad range of details to find other members who meet certain criteria, such as location, age, or interest. We encourage you to sign up and make your profile public in order to continue to help expand the network of the epilepsy.com community.

Finally, click the orange "Submit and login" button to complete your registration. You will be taken back to epilepsy.com where you can start engaging with new friends and learning more about epilepsy!

Take Control of your seizures by starting My Epilepsy Diary today.
