I'm twenty years old and up to now I never had epilepsy. I was out doing my morning tasks I took my sister and her freind to school and then I took my son to day care. From there I would go home and get ready for work. But on this particular day I had finished all my tasks and I was on my way home. The light turned red and I stopped; I remember taking off my seatbelt right before that. And that just happened to be the corner where my work (kohls) sat on. I was about two blocks from home.
Then I woke up in the hospital in the intensive care unit. The first thing I asked was.. "What's going on?" and then they told me that I had wrecked the explorer(which by the way was my dream car that I had saved up all my life for). I just got it in December of 2004 and unfortunately wrecked in October of 2005. They said that I was heading south and was at a stop light when I ran the stop light and was hit by a truck he hit me so hard that I was thrown from the vehicle. Nobody could understand why I had ran a red light when I had a perfect driving record and that was not like me to do some thing like that. So of course the docter was confused; he did an EEG on me and then we knew that I had epilepsy.
Little did I know that all my life I had signs of it and never knew it. I was lucky to have my life. Everyone told me that there must have been a angel siting on my sholder that day. I say that God knew that I had a son that needed me at home. Up untill this I never knew that I had epilepsy. But since then I have had one sezure. Not as bad I just lost fealing in my right arm and I had a really bad headache.
So for all those people that say that it never could happen to me. Or don't under stand why they can't drive this is why. and I wish the best of luck to all you that are also trying to deal with this difficult disability.
