I was in the 7th grade. For my school trip, 7th and 8th graders went to Washington D.C. It was the second day of our trip, and we would drive all over the place, sometimes it would take hours to get to our destination. The last thing I remember was falling asleep. The next thing I knew I heard sirens. I opened my eyes and saw 3 paramedics standing over me and my teacher. Then I heard, "This will sting" as they inserted an IV. I remember seeing the ceiling of the hospital as I was rushed to the emergency room. I spent 30 hours in the hospital that day, with no family as they were all back at home.

Fast Forward

One year after the incident I was seizure-free. For safety, to be sure I did not have epilepsy, I underwent an EEG and other tests. They believed I had photosensitivity so they put a strobe light in front of me. I remember the flashes started slow at first, but then as they got faster I started to shake more and more violently. My hands were twitching, and I was a little upset with the doctor as it was obvious I having a reaction. But she didnt turn off the strobe light. The next thing I knew I opened my eyes to four doctors in the room. I looked at my Dad who had a worried face as he sat by my feet.

Later, after all of the tests I was diagnosed with epilepsy and given medication. Since then I have had two seizures. But I believe the medication is helping me.
