Driving and Epilepsy

In the United States, the automobile crash rate among people with epilepsy is about 50% higher than baseline, but still lower than is the crash rate for teenage male drivers. Automobile license restrictions are a form of discrimination against people with epilepsy. Read more here.

Celebrating the Life of Vincent Van Gogh

This month the Epilepsy Therapy Project celebrates the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh. Born March 30, 1853, Van Gogh is one of the most famous artists of all time.

When viewing Van Gogh's artwork, his brilliance is unmistakable. The paintings capture imagination and emotion; they are powerful, dramatic, inspiring. Sadly Van Gogh only sold one painting during his lifetime, and yet he was determined to give happiness by creating beauty. Van Gogh and his paintings will always be recognized as something to treasure, but we should also remember that this beautiful and gifted man had epilepsy.

Van Gogh suffered from seizures he described as "the storm within." Over a century later, far too many people still suffer ongoing seizures and side effects; their epilepsy, uncontrolled by any available therapy. Yes, we've made progress since the 1800's, but there is much work to do.

VangoghThe Epilepsy Therapy Project, sponsor of www.epilepsy.com, is the only non-profit organization entirely focused on supporting programs to bring new therapies to people living with epilepsy.

There is no time to waste. We are funding great research. Every dollar raised is used for our mission, but we need to raise more funds to meet our goals:

Stop seizures. No side effects.

Van Gogh is quoted as saying "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."

Please join with us and make a donation. Together, we can do great things for all those who live with epilepsy.

Help stop "the storm within."
