Hey there! I'm new to this place, and was after a little info.
On boxing day 2009 I woke up with a swollen tongue, really tired muscles (not sore, just tired), a pinprick rash on my shoulders and a small amount of blood on the floor next to my bed.
The doctor wasn't sure what it was so she sent me to a neurologist. The neurologist couldn't see anything wrong with me with the basic tests, and I also had an ECG, but they contacted me afterwards saying that there's no reason I should stop driving and that I will need a brainwave test at some point soon.
Nothing has happened since then, so I thought it was a one-off, but this morning I woke up with identical symptoms. Muscles so tired I couldn't really sit up or lift my legs, a tiny tiny amount of smudged blood on my pillow, pinprick rashes on my shoulders and around my eyes, and a swollen tongue.
The doctor seems unsure but says it could be seizures but I have no idea what to think! I'm getting a little worried and stressed about it, as it would be nice if the professionals could just say what's wrong with me!
Has anyone ever heard of these specific symptoms in relation to seizures??
Any help or advice you could give would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi Scotch, My firsrst thought was a bad enough seizure to cause ennoxia (spelling?) oxigen deprivation, it can cause small blood vessles to burst annd apear like pin pricks in the skin. If you stopped breathing durring a seizure than it is a possibility. So explains the muscles and possible tongue swelling and possible bite (blood). But as I think on it more.... It also could be signs of a sever allergic reaction. On the evening preceeding these two events lets see Christmass and lent, did you eat or come in contact with anything that you don't everyday.., I developed a bad allergy to Mollusk's at thirty and terrigon at 25. Just an Idea. Neurologically mayber a 3 day EEG or Video EEG for 5 days with MRI with Epilepsy proticol would give more info. Have you hurt your head in the last few years? Get the best med oppinion you can and good luck. sally
Hi Scotchyscotch,
I think a pinprick rash might be seizure petechiae, or petechial, hemorrhage.
My worst experience with a pair of "bespeckled" semi-blackened-eyes and "pinpricked" face happened after I took over-the-counter cold/flu medication and had a major seizure a couple hours later in my sleep. I looked like a strangulation victim on a forensics crime show for a couple days afterwards.

I wouldn't rule it out completely and would go to the brainwave thing when you have the chance. I have no idea what a pin prick would be, but waking up with a bit (sometimes cut) tongue and a pair of legs that almost hurt to stand up and walk on sound familiar. Esp. if the muscles in your arms are sore too. Also if you were drinking heavily throughout the day, or vice versa, just gone through things with little food or water. It could just be infrequent, lifestyle induced seizures. A couple friends have just had 2-3 during their lifetime with no symptoms. One takes a negligible dose of Lamoctal now as a precaution but neither were diagnosed with Epilepsy.
there's no broken skin though, it is just a rash
It sounds like you may have been biten by a venomous insect.Pin-point blood spots are suspicious!
