Hi Everyone new to the group but i have some question because i seen i get my seizure a little bit more often when i have my periods i have had my seizure for 10 yrs now so i seen more often so just want 2 hear what kind of way do you feel. thanks

About the Group:
Women can deal with epilepsy in a different aspect than men. When it comes to the start of puberty to when menopase occurs. There are a numerous amount of effects that women can have due to hormones and becaus of childbearing. Due to this I wanted to start a group to talk and get to know other people with the same seizure and if when it comes to certian subjects you can get a second opinion. Overall one will be able to converse and find out information that can help medically and socially.

My seizures get worse the week before and during my period. My doctor said this was normal for many and put me on Yaz to help control my hormones. It has helped decrease the number of seizures during that time. You might want to look into checking your hormone levels since they can be controlled. Periods can definitely increase our level of stress which can exaberate seizures.
Hello courtney thank you for taking the time to ready about the periods and thank you i mite take that in because also have a problems with having my periods so the putting me birth control meds so i hope the can control them because i'm actual in control of my seizure so thats good news for me and take care hope to keep in touch.
I noticed the same thing. Each time I've had a seizure (twice) I have started my period within hours of having the seizure. I think it is maybe because PMS causes fatigue and that is one of my triggers. Extreme fatigue and stress. Because of this I tend to sleep a bit more when I know it's getting close to my period.

I have such a similar situation..I have had a seizure 2 times once right before my period and the 2nd one right after my period ended (like to the day)...still unsure what causes mine...i have heard that people that have epilepsy have a higher risk for that polycycstic ovaries and having seizures could be a sign...i haven't really had any issues with that ever but i think i am going to get checked out anyway (even though that really freaks me out)
I was diagnosed with polycistic ovaries but just on one side it seems that only certain eplileptic drugs causes it because when I had mine changed I had my second child.
Every month before I am due to have my periods about two days before I tend to have petit mal fits this is due to balance of the hormones. Once I have started my periods my body tends to settle down again.
What medication you on not epilim by any chance is it. I was on a extremely high does.
