One thing I did before surgery which may not have occured to you, and probably dont want to think of , is to draw up an enduring power of attorney, this gives someone you trust the power to do things for you , should the unthinkable happen and you are unable to operate normally.   One thing  I didnt do before my surgery, which I wish I had done was to go to my optometrist and get a periphiall vision test done.  The benefit of doing this will show what effect if any ,the surgery may have on your periphiall vision by comparing your before surgery test with your post surgery test.( But you should wait at least 4 months post surgery before having the test done again.)   Yes have someone with you when you go home, it is a big help ,because alll you will do for the first week is to relax( if you can) and watch TV read,and go for very short walks a couple times a day.  Dont be scared about using strong pain killers for pain relief when you get home, I used -nuerofin plus  and panadine forte for the headaches when  i got home.  Dont be scared to ask your doctor/ surgeon any question no matter how trivial it may seem to you -they are there to help you .  Your vision "may" be affected for a period after your surgery-depending on whether you are having left or right lobeoctomy .   Most of all, stay positive &  think positive . I hope your surgery is succesful , I am still seizure free 2 and three quarter years later.  Good Luck
