I just started on Trileptal 300mg a day I also take 3000mg Keppra 400mg Lamictal and 400mg Topamax and now I feel stoned my neuro says if the Trileptal works to control the partials he'll work me off the Lamictal in 6weeks but I don't know if I should wait that long I just took my first 150mg today od trileptal and can barely type this has anyone else had this problem adjusting to trileptal.

I take 900 mg of Trileptal twice a day. I started taking it in November 2007, 150 mg twice a day. My neuro has slowly built up the dosage, but from the very start, and even now, I feel so drugged. All I want to do is sleep. I have no energy to do anything. My memory is shot. The doc keeps telling me it will get better, so I keep waiting for it to get better. He just doesn't know how long it will take. I've read so many horror stories here from others about the drugs they've taken that I'm afraid to ask for anything else. You know, kinda "the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know" attitude. Let us know what happens!

I've been on Trileptal (450 mg/2x day) for over 2 years now...but I remember feeling "stoned" for the first few months on it. I began on a lower dose (150 mg) and worked my way up. Trileptal does work for me and I currently have no problems with it, but it did take me awhile to adjust...at least 2-3 months. I almost gave up on the medication when it finally started working.
