New - side effects lamictal
|
|
Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Lamictal rash. I have been on lamictal for approx a month. The side effects haven't been too bad. However, the dosage wasn't strong enough and it has recently been increased. Since then I have notice that I have these red splotches on my legs. I have seen some pics online of the lamictal rash but I think that all of those were severe cases. The information that I have found have also been conflictual in that some people are saying you can have mild skin rashes and thats okay and others saying seek immediate physician attention. Looking for some guidance and info.
Thanks
Kelly

I'm taking Lamictal, but have not noticed anything. I've only been taking it for a few years though, how long does it usually take for the rash to appear?
Thanks for your advice. I have an appointment with my primary physician today as my neuro is an hour away and gas prices are killer right now. My rash doesn't really come and go. I have had these blotches (thats what I call them) no my legs for several days although I don't think its severe. It started as a few on one foot but has since went up on both legs. So I am going to go and see. I am also having a lot of muscle pain and weakness which I also attribute to the meds. I can handle that as far as side effects go but I read somewhere that this could be caused by liver stuff getting out of wack so I might have the doctor do some blood work while I am there.
Thanks again
Kelly
Hi Kelly,
I had two doctors tell me the rash was nothing to worry about. Then it got worse and I ended up in the emergency room. I didn't just have a rash though. I had a swollen lymph node the size of a golf ball on the back of my head.
I always think it's better to be safe than sorry. Just see your primary care doctor as they may have more experiences with drug rashes than others.
Take care,
Joelle
I also got a rash but it comes and goes it was just maybe 5 bumps that looked like mosquito bites around my feet and sometimes in my hands but after two hours they go away so its probably not too serious now if your rash begins getting bigger and bigger and not going away then you should seek medical attention.
Hope this helps
Yeah I'd get the rash every once and a while. Each time I'd go in and have it checked out by the neuro. They were all harmless and the longer I was on the meds, the fewer I got until they disappeared altogether.
My advice to you is to go to your doctor. Better safe than sorry.
