New - Canuck needs help!

Hi,
Recently started on keppra and have noticed an increase in tiredness and also weight loss. Has anyone else experienced this?
Is it normal for seizure activity and tiredness to increase whilst getting used to new medications? (I am also on Topamax but this has been reduced and Keppra increased)

The weight loss may be due to the Topamax it is often taken off label for a weight loss drug I've also lost a lot of weight since taking it 400mg a day plus 3000 keppra and 300mg lamictal
Hello,
It is normal for you to experience side-effects when adjusting to a new medication. I was on Keppra for about four weeks; I began to experience the tiredness, lack of hunger, etc. Then, as my doctor began to increase my dosage, my side-effects worsened. I was so tired that I didn't even want to get up for food or answer the door when I had visitors and I would cry all the time over the simplest things. I just started to feel weird all over. Since my sypmtoms got worse with time, and not better (your body usually adjusts to the med and you don't feel the side-effects anymore), my neuro and I decided that Keppra was not the med for me. She put me on Zonegran instead. I take that with Tegretol-XR and Carbemizpine.
With some meds, you can experience weight gain, and with others you can experience weight loss. With these two issues, sometimes you may regain (or lose) the weight, but other times your body will stay the weight it is at now that it is on the new med.
I hope you adjust to the Keppra, let me know if you need anything...Good Luck with everything!
