Nathan B. Fountain MD is professor of neurology and director of the F.E. Dreifuss Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at the University of Virginia where he completed neurology residency as well as clinical and research epilepsy fellowships.

Dr. Fountain's research includes NIH and industry sponsored studies of drugs and devices for epilepsy. Other research interests include studies of how seizure frequency changes, nonconvulsive status epilepticus, and improving quality of epilepsy care.

He is the previous chair of the Epilepsy Foundation Professional Advisory Board and vice president of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers and former chair of the FDA Advisory Committee on Peripheral and CNS Drugs.
