Traveling while Pregnant with Epilepsy

Tue, 11/17/2015 - 16:49

Hi - just wondering if anyone with epilepsy traveled abroad while they were pregnant. I've had epilepsy for about 15 years now (I have one roughly every 3 years...usually grand mal. I'm on 650mg of Lamictal daily). I'm worried about potentially having a seizure while pregnant, when I'm abroad. If it were to happen, whatever hospital I would go to won't know my history, might not be all that fluent in English, and might therefore not know how to handle the situation (i.e. whether to increase the Lamictal, etc.). How "dangerous" is it? My doctors say it's not ideal but ok...my mom on the other hand is panicking...Any insight would be amazing. Thanks in advance.
