Seizure triggers
Mon, 07/28/2014 - 11:37Two weeks ago I was in the beauty shop getting my hair done. The woman sittitg next to me had an infra-red light shinning on her hair. While I tried to keep my eyes closed, it's not possible if you're drinking coffee. And they were busy, so I couldn't sit anywhere else. The next day, I had a bad seizure. Could the infra-red light have triggered it?

For me a seizure which is caused by a trigger generally happened that day and at times even in the same hour. If I am outside and have a partial seizure I generally look at the temp and humidity if they are close to 100 or above I know it was heat, with me getting to hot to fast can and does cause seizures. With many photo senvitive people they have their seizures that day too. I am not a doctor but am speaking from my own experiances. As far as lights triggering seizures in some people yes it can. Strobe lights, disco balls in clubs and even some video games can since the lights can change fast in them. If you have a good relatinship with your neurologist call him and ask this question. I have goten answers to a lot of questions in calls rather then waiting for a visit. I hope this helps
