Seeking advise and opinion!

Hello, i just came across this forum... I'm 27 and was diagnosed at 21. When i was 18 i was hit by a car and at 21 started having seizures. One Dr told me its not realted, other said it could be accident cause seizures came from the same side of the brain. Anyway long story make short, i used to have seizures like starting hearing voices and then passing out... They could not find anything until they cut off my meds, put me in a hospital under cameras and didnt let me sleep for 2 days. Then i had seizure and they confirmed its epilepsy. I have a different opinion about what they did...but... As long as meds are working i'm happy. Now i am on Lamictal 300/twice a day and Keppra 500mg/am and 750mg/pm... My Dr lets me lower my keppra to 500pm.. He says his goal is to leave me on Lamictal only. I am seizure free for 6 years now. So happy and Thank God, but do i need medication? Those side effects like falling hair, Mood, sleepeness, anxiety and all... killing me. I bet its not doing any good for my body either :( i wish i could cure myself with hollistic medicine but.. I would be devasted to have seizure after such a long time... Is there a chance i could be fine without meds? Also i would like to have a child but i am so afraid. Dr says having a seizure could stop babys heart... I dont know what to do. Also hormones, delivery, driving while pregnant all sound so dangerous and depressing to me... :( Does anyone quit their meds? Or on low dose? Sometimes when i'm stresses i have metallic smell in my nose... Maybe once a month or less.. Pregnancy and meds? I'm afraid they would up my meds due to weight gain... I have been using alkochol for past 6 years and had no seizure. I had sleepless nights and no seizure... I used to have auras when i was stressed. Still in the back of my head i think i had seizures due to stressful life at that time and possibly car accident. I wish i could quit meds but dont want to live with fear of having another seizure... Opinions? (Sorry for mistakes - bilingual)

Lamicatal is pregnancy safe. I was diagnosed epileptic at 14 and I have taken lamictal when pregnant and trying to conceive, but other than that I medicate with marijuana 100% and it is very effective for me and many sufferers.

When i was 18 i was hit by a car and at 21 started having seizures. One Dr told me its not related, other said it could be accident cause seizures came from the same side of the brain.  <<< yes they could be related. If you hit your head and you were knocked out for a second you could have caused a hemoragh to the brain. If it did then it could have caused scar tissue on that side of your head.I had a ladder rung come out while I was on it. Top rung. I hit the steel rail on the top bunk bed on the left side of my head. Spinning it and that slammed my mouth into the bottom rail. All I know is I had blood all over the place and the doctors at the hospitals were more worried about my 4 front teeth and the 32 stiches they had to put on the inside of my jaw and on my tongue then the big bump on my head. About 5 years later I started having seizures. The original diagnosis epilepsy caused by scared brain tissue in the left lobes of my brain. Doc ran the EEG and MRI to see if there was a procedure was going to work. His cause was better since he did have the scar tissue showing up between 6-8 yoa, Did the doctors have a MRI done of that area of your brain. If not then you might want to ask them if that might be what happened to you.The back of your head is fine, But what is really happening and you should be thinking about is what is happening and not what MIGHT happen. NO ONE KNOWS what will be in tomorrow. The past is behind us and we can't change what happened. We live in the present because it is here and now. We plan for the future. So take things as they are and deal with what might be when it comes. That way you control your epilepsy. Rather then letting your epilepsy control you. Your neurologists know which medications are best for you if you want kids. As long as you aren't having seizures you will be fine.
