Pregnancy and Epilepsy

Thu, 12/15/2016 - 12:05
I am just over 7 weeks pregnant. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy when I was 18 and it has been fairly well controlled with 1,000 mg of Keppra twice daily. Before trying to conceive, I was also taking a small amount of Zonegran as well. I stopped the Zonegran, as I was worried about being on two anti-seizure meds while pregnant. Today, at 7 weeks, I believe I had my first real seizure ever. I was running to the bathroom to throw up (yay morning sickness) and the next thing I knew, I was on the floor in my kitchen, with my head and knees hitting the cabinets. I felt like I was dreaming and couldn't understand what was happening. As soon as it stopped, I was fine, got up and went to the bathroom. Naturally I am quite alarmed. I did call my OB and am waiting to hear back from my neurologist. Can anyone share their experiences of dealing with epilepsy during pregnancy?
