Perimenopause and Epilepsy

Wed, 09/21/2016 - 09:46
I have Generalized MyoClonic epilepsy for the past 25yrs. My epilepsy has been controlled most of the time. One time for adjustment of my medication. Now I am 51 yrs old and starting perimenopause. I have been so focused on what will happen during menopause but one thing I did see happening, was a change in my seizures. Over the four months I have experienced 3 large seizures during my sleep. My poor tongue is taking the brunt of the episode. But I have not noticed loss of urine. I have an appointment in October to see my neurologist. I was just wondering if anyone else had changes in their seizure activity during this time too and what was the outcome. Thank you Jean

just scroll down in this section and you will see posts about women and their time of month. Hormones can cause medications to work differently from time to time. I know when changing from a 12 yo brat to a teen I had to have my dosages change 3-4 times in a 8 month period of time.
