out grew epilepsy?

Sun, 03/22/2015 - 13:38

I have had the condition for years but as I get older I noticed when ever I am taken off my meds that I have decreased seizure activity or none.

Then when I am put back on my meds I have break through seizures. And not to meantion all the side effects from AEDs.

Why would a doctor keep someone on AEDs if they do better off them?

Strictly my opinion: doctors

Strictly my opinion: doctors prescribe medications. If you want/need medication see a doctor. Sounds to me like you've discovered a solution. Stop taking the pills. If the seizures come back get back on the meds. If not, you've won. Take your victory lap. My wife had one seizure (2.5 years ago)  and was prescribed Keppra. She's had multiple seizures since. I'm looking at the math and it makes sense to me to have her stop the meds to see what happens. Good luck to you. I hope you'll keep us posted.
