Hi, I'm 34 and a year ago I had a partial seizure, but nothing till November of 2015. I used to be on heavy painkillers for a chronic pain disorder in my sympathetic nervous system, that's currently dormant. I was on Methadone and Dilaudid, as well as 600mgs of Lyrica for nerve pain. Though I'm off the painkillers, I'm still on the Lyrica. I used to have the occasional seizure, but I just attributed it to the large amount of meds in my system. The episode in January of last year they said was a partial seizure. I felt a sudden drop in mood and suddenly I started hearing this fluttering in my ear. I felt like my body was vibrating. Everything got bright and really blurry. It lasted for a minute, then afterwards I felt very disoriented, incredibly tired and had a bad headache. Because it didn't happen again, there wasn't a problem with things. I got the flu in November and started to get tremors that would come and go. The possibility of MS has been discussed, but lately the episodes are more clustered and worrisome. I'll hear that fluttering sound and if I can't get to a flat surface, my body just lands wherever I am. I've had ones where I'm conscious and unconscious. I get more in the nighttime. My boyfriend noticed that just as I would fall asleep that I'd start shaking and become unresponsive. They last anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute. Then for at least 5 minutes he says I'm out of it and not really able to form words. After I come around, he's asking me if I'm OK and I haven't known what's going on. The nighttime ones I don't always notice the aura with it bc I'm asleep. Some nights it happens more than once. I'm not sure how many. I'm on the list for the seizure clinic in Halifax. My doctor's wondering why the lyrica hasn't countered them. My boyfriend is worried about when I'm alone bc I've almost hit my head a few times. When I'm conscious for one, the symptoms include that fluttering sound like wings beating really loud in my ear, the feeling of my body vibrating, and everything is bright and blurry. I don't always recognize the drop in mood when I'm tired as an aura and by the time I hear that fluttering sound I have barely any time before it happens. I'm wondering how long some people's auras last, ideas on why the Lyrica wouldn't be working, how (if at all)you can figure out what's triggering them, and if some people have to take more than one type of medication to manage them. Thanks! Cathy
