Keppra adding Zonisamide...your experience??

Sun, 11/15/2015 - 21:42

Hi everyone,

I have myoclonic/tonic-clonic epilepsy that was diagnosed at 14. I have been on Keppra for 8 years and for the most part it worked well. My seizures have recently become more active (from once a year to every 6 months and now once a month with my period). My neurologist is starting to introduce zonisamide(2500mg keppra + 100mg zoniamide/day to start) into my treatment and i'm really nervous about how this will not only effect my mood but my seizure pattern as well. Has anyone else been on this combination of medication? How did it effect you? Did your seizure control improve, stay the same, or get better?

Thanks in advance for the response!
