How to help my husband understand my epilepsy?

Wed, 06/22/2016 - 21:48
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 8, I am now 22 and I am still having grand-mal seizures. One thing I have noticed as I am getting older is how much more the seizure is affecting me, even weeks after. My memory is terrible, I am irritable, emotional, sore, and tired. My husband has always handled the seizures really well, but in the last six months I have had 5 seizures, and well I am having a hard time dealing with them. I talk to him about it and he will comfort me, but then he acts like ok lets move on, no sense dwelling. I just cant do that, I have questions, concerns, all of these things running through my head that he doesn't understand. He thinks I'm just being too emotional. I don't know how to get through to him, what I deal with on a day to day basis with epilepsy. I have talked about counseling and he will not do it. I don't know what to do or say anymore.
