Getting Pregnant with Epilepsy

Mon, 08/15/2016 - 20:47
Hello, To begin, a little about my situation. I'm early 20's and began having seizures during my menstrual cycle every month when I was 19. It's been well controlled for the past few years(taking 750MG trileptal daily), despite the occasional "aura". My husband and I are entertaining the idea of having children. He is terrified of me being off/taken down on medication. It's hard for us to be positive with all of these fears that we have. I'm looking for some insight from women who have been in a similar situation. Thanks ya'll! xoxo

Thanks, it's really nice to have some positive support. It's hard for my family and friends to relate. I plan on seeing a high risk obgyn to speak to. My neurologist is kind of bias in my favor over the hypothetical fetus, so is really pushing me to stay on my regular dose of meds. I'd like a second opinion ya know?

That's really great to hear :

That's really great to hear :) I like to see that things can be totally normal (better than normal!) with this big monkey on our backs. My husband is alot more hesitant than me. He tends to be more logical and it's kind of getting in his head I think. He's worried about me being home with a baby in my belly!
