Feeling Stuck

Mon, 01/04/2016 - 23:01

I've been free from my seizure-like events for a couple of weeks (at least to my knowledge), but the constant dizziness, shakiness, and migraines are still there constantly.

It's awful and it's to the point where I don't even want to go out in public for the fear of something happening (after my episodes, I can't feel/use my legs for at least 15 minutes).

My mom has made it clear that it will be awhile until I can actually get a service dog and I've called my doctor twice now to see if I have other options and she has yet to call me back.

My mom has even said that if I have an episode while I'm with her in public, she'll just walk away and leave me there and pretend she doesn't know me. I just feel so scared and so unsafe leaving the house/walking around and I don't have anyone to rely on if I have an episode in public.

I've told my mom how I feel like I'm not getting the proper care and that I'm struggling and she just doesn't care. Now, she wants me locked away in a mental hospital because "I can't function" when in reality I don't want to leave the house because my seizures are unpredictable.

What do I do? :(

First off talk to your neurologist about changing your meds-it sounds like your having side effects from the ones your on. Don't stop going out in public, I have seizures which cause loss of bladder control, falling to knees and disorientation but when I do someone helps, even strangers. Everyone has some kind of health problem, wouldn't you help if you saw the same? I am surprised at your mothers negative reaction and you probably think the same way as a result. Think positive-your seizure are controlled which is great. Please try to forget all this negative nonsense just because you have still have a problem.
