Catamenial Epilepsy?
Tue, 06/02/2015 - 00:30Hi My Name is Myka. Ive had epilepsy since i was 25 years old. Currently i am on keppra and tegrotol. My seizures come and go. I may have a full generalized tonic clonic every 2 months or i could go on without 1 for a full year. It all starts with an aura that lasts 5-10 minutes before i have an episode. The seizures last about 2 minutes. Just the past years ive been logging my episodes and ive noticed that i have auras/seizures beginning day 2 BEFORE my period up to day 15 INTO my period. Could this be catamenial epilepsy? Also every month i have dizzy spells during those days. And whats also intriguing is that my auras/dizzy spells/seizures mostly happen between 5pm to 7pm. Does anyone here also experience what im going through? Here is what i am thinking of what to do to fix the issues.
1. Take progestrone (coz i heard progesterone helps reduce seizures) 2 days prior to my period up to day 15. Is this allowed? will there be side effects? will it affect my period?
2. Increase my AED during those days.
