My neurologist said he suspects the reason I suddenly started having these complex partial seizures at age 35 is a chemical imbalance. I'm on keppra 1000 mg a day. Its working for the most part but here I am about 5 days away from my period coming and I'm starting to feel the weird feelings. Like how I felt before I was diagnosed I'm October 2015. I think this happens about 2 weeks pre menstral. If it's a chemical or hormone problem making me feel like this which doc should I see? I want them to fix it, don't want to be on keppra forever. Do I need further testing? Do I ask my gyno, primary, neurologist or some other specialist? Thanks

If you want you can read many other posts regarding women and their periods and they were having problems. Men have them too. As the body changes whether it be weight change or hormonal it does affect the medications. The doctor told you what it was and yes hormonal changes are chemical imbalances. You might ask your neurologist if raising the dosage might stop it but he/she would know more about that. As for meds and how they should be taken. If your meds say xxx ,g 2 times a day then those times need to be 12 hours apart. By taking them 12 hours apart it keeps the therapeutic levels where the neurologist wants them. Which can stop break thru seizures, I hope this helps and yo uget seizure free Joe
