Anyone here been through pregnancy with epilepsy?

Wed, 01/20/2016 - 14:38

I'm hoping to start trying to getting pregnant about a year from now. I have epilepsy and am really worried. I have communicated all my worries to my neurologist and family doctor, but still would be nice to talk to people who have actually experienced it.  Types of Input I'm looking for: 1.meds...did you choose to cut back on meds to prevent birth defects vs. did you choose to stay on them so as not to hurt the baby (deprivation of oxygen bc of uncontrolled seizure)?? 2. What happened if you had seizures while pregnant? We're your doctors or yourself worried that the baby was being harmed? 3. Labor- were you concerned that your body would start seizing during childbirth from the added stress? Did you opt for c-section? Did you have a plan for "just in case" you had a seizure during child birth? 4. Any different words of wisdom or issues you encountered? Maybe work related or breastfeeding or holding your baby or just anything??
