Why doesn't anyone understand?!

Tue, 02/06/2007 - 09:49
I'm 14 and I've had seizures since I was 5. It's become harder to deal with in the past year. My seizures are getting more frequent and intense. They 're still not that bad of seizures but it's still hard to deal with weekly seizures. I won't be able to drive like my friends and brothers. I'm different. My parents, doctors, and friends all say they understand but they don't. Does anyone else have this problem? Please help.

Hey, I seriously understand how you feel. I'm 18 and have had seizures since I was 10. My seizures are sometimes frequent but at other times they're like once or twice a month. So they go on and off though I do take medication for it. Yes, I know how you feel about driving. I really want to drive also. Many of my friends can drive and because of my seizures I can't. And its also harder for me by having a twin that isn't epileptic. I feel very different around the "normal" people as well. My neurologist says he understands, but you are right, they don't understand us and how we feel. Well, my family doesn't really care about my seizures and stuff. They aren't close to me and we don't talk much. Some of my friends say they understand, but I know they don't. My other friends who looked up and asked about epilepsy do admit they don't know how I feel about it but they give me as much support as they can. I hope you're getting along fine. God bless and keep you. ~Sophs
