sleeping and swimming

So... im 16 and i had about 10 seizures since last year i think. and my problem is that my doctor told me that i have to go to sleep at a specific time *1* which is ok i guess but the other thing is that she told me that i have to change the times i sleep *for example* i go to sleep at 1 am todayand wake up at 11... but tommorow i have to go to sleep at 11 to go to my girlfriends house at 9... she says i have to lower the hours of sleep i have each day and i just thought it was stupid. does any one else think this is wrong? i mean yea it comes from a doctor and i yea i figured out that my seizures come from not having enough sleep but does it really have to be like this?id also like to know from people from how they live their life on how do you deal with swimming... he said he won't let me go there with a friend and only with him because he is scared that my friend can't take care of me.

As long as you consistently get the number of hours of sleep you need (for me it's 10 hours), I think you'll be ok.

With the swimming...if a person knows basic life-saving safety, you're fine.  But many people have swum with a friend and have been successfully "dragged" out.  (I don't know if that's a comforting thought or not!)

Good luck...and try to be consistent in your sleep hours.  The secret is getting enough REM (deep sleep) hours.    Phylis Feiner Johnson   www.epilepsytalk.com
